Er zijn weer nieuwe meldingen binnen van gevonden kaartjes, deze keer veel vanuit het Groene Hart, want niet verwonderlijk is aangezien de wind destijds uit het Zuidwesten kwam. Uiteraard zijn deze nieuwe vondsten weer op de kaart aangebracht (locatie kaart)
Ik wil met name Maggie bedanken, wiens hond Emma kaartje nr. 218 op het strand bij Almere Haven vond en daar ook een hele leuke foto van heeft gemaakt. Het lijkt me dan ook heel leuk als er meer foto's binnen zouden komen, dus mocht je een kaartje vinden en je hebt je mobieltje bij je.....

Some new reports of cards being found have come in. This time most of them are from around the 'Green Hart' (the area between Amsterdam, Utrecht, Rotterdam and The Hague), which isn't surprising as the wind at the time was coming from a southwesternly direction. The locations of the new foundlings have been been put on the map of locations (map) I would like to specifically thank Maggie, whose dog Emma found card nr. 218 on the beach next to Almere Port, and of which Maggie took a wonderful picture. I would love it if i could get more pictures in so if you do find a card and have your mobile with you..

Over de grens../ Across the border..

Eindelijk! Er is een kaartje gevonden over de grens, en wel in Wenduine bij onze zuiderburen. Het was er een van de eerste serie, dus nog een geluk dat de kaartjes het zo'n drie weken in dit weer kunnen uithouden. Het kaartje was aan het strand gevonden, dus mischien dat ook deze in het water is geland en later is aangespoeld, maar sowieso prachtig dat er één over de grens is geraakt!
Er zijn ook al weer anderen gevonden die laatst zijn losgelaten. Deze keer stond er een zuidwesten wind, wat gelijk zichtbaar wordt als je op de kaart kijkt. Leiden, Mijdrecht, Zouterwoude, allemaal precies in lijn met de windrichting van toen. Wel grappig detail is dat de ballonnen die helemaal waren opgeblazen, dichterbij zijn gevonden dan diegene die dat niet waren. (-zie mijn entry van 13/06).

Finally! A card has made it across the border and into Belgium and was found on the beach at Wenduine. It was a card from the first lot, so we're pretty lucky these cards can survive the weather for three weeks or so. It might have even landed in the sea and just drifted to Belgium..., nevertheless, we've got one across the border.
Some of the last batch have been found as well. They were released with a southwesternly wind, which you can deduct from the locations where they were found, Leiden, Mijdrecht, Zoeterwoude, all exactly in line with the wind at that time. Funny detail is the fact that those balloons inflated to the maximum are the ones that came the least far.(-see the entry of 13/ 06).

Lucky one, nr. 275...

Dit hebben we ook nog gedaan, één kaartje aan vier ballonnen vastgemaakt in de hoop dat deze dus ook vier keer zo ver komt. Dus, als je kaartnr. 275 vindt, weet dat dit de 'lucky one' was....

We also did this today, attach one of the cards to no less then four balloons to see if this card would actually cover four times the distance of the others. So know that if you do find cardnr. 275, that this was indeed the 'lucky one'..

Numbers 201 'till 300 have been released..

Na een periode van afwachting tot de wind zou draaien was het dan eindelijk zo ver, een zuid/ zuidwestelijke wind! De vorige keren hebben we de ballonnen losgelaten met een noordoostelijke wind, waardoor de meeste eigenlijk in de zee terecht kwamen of op het strand eindigden. Maar nu vertrokken ze allemaal de andere kant op dus wederom weer hoge verwachtingen waar deze zullen eindigen.
We hebben trouwens de nummers 201 tot 251 maar een klein beetje opgeblazen, en de anderen juist zo vol mogelijk. Ik heb namelijk gehoord dat hoe hoger ze komen, de ballonnen uitzetten en kunnen knappen als ze te vol zijn opgeblazen. Nou wist ik niet dat deze ballonnen ook zo hoog kunnen komen, dus besloten we de proef op de som te nemen en te kijken welk deel van deze 100 het verste komt.... Wie weet?

After a period of waiting for the right winds, today was the day with a good south/ southwestern breeze. The previous times we had released the balloons with a northeasterly wind, and the majority ended up in the sea or on the beach. But all of this lot gently moved towards the opposite direction so hopes are high for these ones.
We actually inflated the numbers 201 till 250 only a bit, and the others right to the hilt, to see which ones come further. I was told that the higher they get, they expand (like 'proper' balloons), but wasn't aware that this also applied to these type of balloons. So we've made a little test, now we just have to wait and see..

Hier is een korte video waar het hele proces op wordt getoond. (Ik kan iedereen dit aanraden trouwens, het heeft iets heel rustgevends om een ballon los te laten en langzaam zien wegzweven)

Here's another video i made, this time it's the process of this project being shown. (By the way, i can seriously recommend this ballooning, it really is rather relaxing to let a balloon go and watch it gently float away).

En nog een paar../And then some more..

Woensdag in de loop van de ochtend weer een lading ballonnen de lucht in, dit maal de nummers 136 t/m 200. Er stond een fikse wind, wat de balonnnen nog al door elkaar schudde. Ik weet niet of ze hier sneller kapot van gaan, maar in ieder geval kwamen er al gauw van meldingen van deze serie binnen, eentje zelfs van slecht 6Km weg en die is dan ook degene die het meest dichtbij is 'geland'..
Hopelijk komer er ook een paar toch wat verder, want dat zou je toch wel verwachten met een sterke wind. We zien wel..


I let loose another batch this wednesday morning, this time the numbers 136 to 200. There was quite some wind at the time, which shook the balloons violently. I am not sure if this has any effect on the balloons themselves, like causing them to burst, because quite soon i started getting reports in from this particular batch. One of them only made it out 6 Km's away, which makes it the shortest
flight of the lot..
Hopefully there'll be some that put in quite a distance, which you would expect with a strong breeze. We'll see...

De tweede lading/The second batch

Ik heb maandagmiddag samen met Kim een tweede lading ballonnen op pad gestuurd. Niet zoveel deze keer, 'slechts' 35 stuks (nummers 101 t/m 135). Inmiddels is van deze serie al één kaartje gevonden... in Oostvoorne ongeveer 60 Km weg! Dit is in ieder geval de grootste afstand, want de rest is tot nu toe alleen in Den Haag neergekomen.

The second batch of balloons was released by me and my friend Kim on monday afternoon. Not that many, 'only' 35 this time (numbers 101 to 135). Of this batch already one has been found.....
in Oostvoorne, which is about 60 Km's away! This is definitly the largest distance covered, because so far all the others have landed in The Hague. To view the map with all the locations on it up to date, click here!

De eerste reacties!/The first reactions!

Fantastisch! Na zondag de eerste serie ballonnen te hebben losgelaten, kreeg ik al gelijk op de maandag de eerste melding binnen,
niet vanuit België, Duitsland of Frankrijk, maar uit..... het Regentessekwartier! Oh well.. In ieder geval bedankt mr Merry voor die melding.
Uiteraard was ik nogal verbaasd dat 'ie daar gezien werd, aangezien ik de ballonnen tocht echt richting het Zuiden/ Zuidwesten zag gaan. Maar het was niet de enige, want er kwamen al gauw andere meldingen binnen en die waren allemaal vanuit Scheveningen.
Deze drie nieuwe zijn alle op het strand gevonden, dus mischien is het scenario dat Suzanne den Hamer schetste nog niet eens zo ver gezocht! In ieder geval, voor een (voorlopig) overzichtskaartje van vindplekken en vinders, klik je hier!

Fantastic! After the first balloons were let go last sunday, i received the first sighting on the monday. Not from Belgium, Germany or France but from.....the Regentesse-district right here in The Hague! Oh well..
Nevertheless a word of thanx to Mr Merry for letting me know.
To be honest, it surprised me to find out it ended up there, as i was sure the general direction was South/ Southeast, and this is West!? But it wasn't the only one, as quite soon i got more reports and they we all from Scheveningen.
All of these were found on the beach, so perhaps the scenario sketched out by mrs. Suzanne den Hamer wasn't that unbelievable! Anyways, to view a map with all the locations on it to date, click here!

Ze zijn los!/And they're off

We hebben gisteren de eerste honderd ballonnen losgelaten, met de nummmers 001 tot en met 100. De wind kwam uit het Noord-Westen en we zagen ze langzaam aan richting Rotterdam zweven. Uiteraard razend benieuwd waar deze terecht zullen gaan komen. Als ze verder dan Delft komen is het allemaal ok!We let loose the first hundred balloons yesterday, with the numbers 001 to 100. The wind was a light North-Western breeze and we could see the floating towards Rotterdam. Of course we are all dead curious to find out where they'll end up, but as long as its past Delft, we're happy!

Kaarten gedrukt!/Cards are ready!

Wahey! De kaarten zijn gedrukt en afgeleverd en, ook al zeg ik het zelf, ze zien er goed uit.. Nu nog even nummeren en dan kan het feest beginnen.

Wahey! The cards have been printed and delivered, and if i may say so myself, they are looking good.. Now all that is left is numbering them and then we're good to go
